Although I agree that a bedroom should have a closet, and I think it should have enough room for a bed and a chest, in many cases what defines a bedroom is a matter of perspective. Many years ago I had a real estate license in FL and was told by a broker that a room could not be called a bedroom without a closet, but I've been to many places that will call just about anything a bedroom. I have a neighbor who enclosed the carport on her 1 bedroom, and is advertising it as a 2 bedroom villa. I was curious and used Google, but the only articles I can find are about the 2004 Housing Act for the U.K. So if you live in the U.K. then a legal bedroom has to be 6.5 sq/m or 70 sq/ft. I don't think the USA has a law stating a required size. I guess as long as you can squeeze a twin mattress into a room it's a bedroom.
