I bought a stainless steel package from HH Gregg. The refrigerator is side-by-side with the water and ice dispenser (crushed or cubes) in the outside of the freezer door. Smooth-top stove, 1,000 watt micro with vent and fan below for stove and dishwasher. $2,000, free delivery.
My GE washer and dryer (basic, white) cost about $700, delivered. I got it at Lowe's and they took the old ones away.
I know you said mid range, but we outfitted our rental unit with stainless steel kitchen appliances - fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, microwave + delivery, install and parts for $2200 from Best Buy. For the water heater, I would budget $1200 for new unit plus install by a licensed person. The washer/dryer can be had at Costco for around $900/piece. The kitchen appliances were on the lower end, but after a year of short term renters, no problems.
Not that so much but some of the recommendations are into the high end price range, $2000 for a washer/dryer combo being one.
An electric range for $1200 is another. As is a dishwasher for $1000.
The OP indicated mid-range. Those represent pretty middle of the road appliances. Of course you can get by with less but that's not what was asked.
The $2000 w/d combo included pedestals. Those alone run about 500-600. $1500 for a w/d is about $750 each. Not low end but not high end either. Go to Lowe's or HD website. They carry washers that run over $1400 each. And that's a place like Lowe's not fancy-schmancy stores and brands.
I am not going to say that you can't do better than the $1844.20 deal from A.J. Madison for "ss Fridigaire" package but folks throwing out numbers far higher are not thinking "value"...
You don't have to go far out on a limb to guess that somebody shopping for a foreclosure is not a "high end" buyer. Especially if they also need a water heater -- budget $358 for electric, add $29 for gas -- Sears.com
The OP shouldn't listen to any nonsense about "older appliances were better" or other make-believe. If you "move frequently" that is a way to really waste money and leaving behind fancy appliance just wastes money faster... To Build Wealth: Avoid Changing Locations or Partners - Can I Retire Yet?
Thanks, I am not shopping for a foreclosure, but I am in an area with very little inventory and this house happens to have some nicer features than some of the others, for the money (things I like anyhow). If I'm going to do work (which most of them need), I may as well get one for a good deal and fix it up to my specifications .
I only plan to be there about 5 years so don't feel it's worth spending 10,000 on appliances.
well I found a divorce yard sale the lady sold a stainless steel refrig -80.00 . washer and dryer 100 I'm talking front loaders too . I mean she was cleaning out the house , she had to sell the house and the lady who bought it told her to get the appliances out cause she had her own . so the lady hired movers to move them to the garage and the gs attendees could look in the garage and they were running . I mean soup to nuts this lady had it . I bought all her dishes , glasses and crystal for 20.00 and bought king size sheets all Egyptian cotton for 50 bucks there had to have been at least 100 matching sets in the box . I will never find that deal again . The man behind me bought the fridge and the w/d set .
If you were buying a house that needed 5 new appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer) and a hot water tank, what would you budget for that (all electric)? I'd like stainless steel mid range appliances. The bank owns this house and the people actually took the hot water tank .
I know I can go out and shop and find out, but a friend who was with me looking at the house said I'd need $10,00, would it really be that much? I have never bought new ones, ever!!! Generally the houses I've bought have come with them, and I've moved rather frequently so never needed to buy any.
Thanks!
We just did this a few months ago. Everything is GE. French Door fridge was $2200, gas range was $900, very quiet dishwasher was $650, and top loading washer and dryer were $900. We also got a built in microwave with vent for $500. We paid less than retail on all of it. The fridge is normally $2700 and the washer and dryer are normally $1100 or $1200. Go somewhere where they price match.
