I have a magnet from June 1993 labelled DURHAM PRODUCTS TPL 115V 60Hz 25MPH CONT. DUTY 1PH CLASS B 2800RPM .9AMP (076006 025270) that runs a constant speed exhaust fan in a pellet stove.

I can't find Durham Products anywhere. The magnet is part of a larger assembly which is on sale for $257.50

Enviro Combustion / Exhaust Blower Assembly 115V (Nov. 2003 +) $257.50
Enviro Combustion / Exhaust Blower Assembly 115V (Nov. 2003 +) - 50-901

Frankly, I don't think the large assembly needs to be replaced as the fan blades seem OK. The broken piece of plastic and the discoloration around the magnet makes me believe it is burned out.

Is there any way to test the magnet for problems? I can plug it in, it hums and it attracts things, but it doesn't make the rotor blades spin.

If not, is there anyway to buy a replacement magnet without buying the whole assembly. I can't seem to figure out what to search for on the web.

It would help a lot if the photo with the label was in focus. I suggest you try that one again.

It looks like what you have is part of a motor. If it hums, it is probably OK. I suggest you see if you can turn the rotor blades by hand. They may be frozen. If they are, the bearing(s) may be dry and need some lube.

Aftermarket blowers look to be under $200? Seems like new blowers use a different style of motor (e.g. FASCO).

In theory, you should be able to measure resistance on it.

Should clock in with a very low resistance. Somewhere in the 1 ohm range, I would expect.

When I compare the blade and magnet with a photo from a replacement website I think I see the problem. It looks like it has been redesigned with a cage that protects the blades. My blades were hitting screws and were all bent. The wire coil was wrapped with tape that was all burnt looking, and the protective plastic was all singed off.

Replacement Combustion / Exhaust Blower (motor only, not the housing). $238.50
Aftermarket replacement Combustion / Exhaust Blower (motor only, not the housing). $149
The aftermarket replacement is $90 less.

These parts sure are expensive. You could end up buying a new stove piece by piece.

I am worried about this Vacuum switch l, $67.80
My Firebox liner is completely shot , $154.40

And even though the other two motors are working right now, they are 23 years old
$162.60 Enviro and Hudson River Auger Motor 115V (1 RPM)
$243.90 Enviro, Hudson River, & Vista Flame Convection Blower 115V

Yes it does, but it is 15 years newer and an updated design. Thank You, as that is the best price I have seen (although the impeller is not included). I can use my current impeller

I'm not an electrician but I've never seen the magnet (field) on one of those types of motors sold separated from the armature. I would think the winding on the magnet are somehow matched to those in the armature.

Perhaps a electrical shop may know how to rewind your magnet if the windings have failed internally?

BTW, I have a Kozi and an Englander pellet stove in my farm house. The Kozi was one I bought used this past year and is an older one. The big Englander I bought five years ago new. So far I've not had any motor problems but, knock on wood, they do get expensive.

I assume that the rightmost fan blade is the one called the impeller, as it impells the air into the exhuast system. I am not sure what the middle fan blade does. But it seems to be the one that got bent in my older motor. The new model seems to have a redesign which protects it better.

I think I need the entire thing replaced now.
