How often do people clean carpets to keep them in good shape? I vacuum every week or every other week. The goal is to make carpets last as long as possible.

But I'm talking about steam cleaning. Also, have people used Zerorez, which use some kind of special water and less chemicals? The reviews online seem good. Should I do basic steam cleaner companies or use Zerorez?

About Capture Carpet Rug Dry Cleaner

Any time you get the carpet "wet" with either steam or hot water that will drive more dirt DOWN into the backing and pad than anything short of truck-mounted vacuum will never be able to completely pull out...

My last carpet clean was with a "low water" cleaner, followed by a super strong vacuum. I felt like it was no different from when I spray Simple Solution enzyme cleaner on dog accidents. I would rather call Stanley Steamer and get a professional steam clean. Just feels cleaner to me. I guess this is what you meant by "truck-mounted" vacuum.
