I installed this Lowe's Style Selection over 2 years ago. I first used it in the family room and I liked it so much, I put in two upstairs bedroom. I'm also going to put it in my kitchen. I love this stuff.

Ours has held up remarkably well with 3 kids and a golden retriever. The family room opens up to the yard so I've had plenty or water and snow tracked in and it's still held up. I have not noticed any scratches or anything. I also don't recall an odor.

It's very easy to clean.

Yeah. I’m in the trades.
So, I had a prejudice against vinyl plank until it was present in my current house.
I’m sure it’s a get what you pay for, but the stuff in my house is awesome. Not a clue as to brand or whatever because it was there when I bought the place.
It does in fact look like, and have the texture of a wood product.
It is not by any means slippery when wet.
I believe it to be less slippery than the hardwoods I’ve had in previous homes.
My SIL is an obnoxious and competitive snob and she ranted and raved how much she loved the flooring and could not believe it wasn’t “real” wood when I told her.

Have you had issues with scratching? I'm mostly concerned because I wanted to put this in a play room and by our bar, so there will be chairs moving around one it often.
I had Allure by Taskmaster for years in dark and never noticed on scratch in 5 years at that house. I regret not using it this time around.

We have some in our house and I love it. Ours was cheaper then carpet, easy to clean and has held up well even with pets and kids being rougher then one should on it.

There is a casino we go to close by to where we live. They have vinyl (wood lookalike) flooring in their hallways that are very busy with lots of sand/salt, slushy foot traffic, and it still looks great after at least 5 years.

Go for it!

Great thread.

We plan to use this in our entire new build SFH this year. We need something pet-toenail-scratch-resistant and (most importantly) waterproof, and as far as I can figure from research, it's either Luxury Vinyl Plank or ceramic tile.

So, due to comfort issues (it seems that tile is cold and hard on your joints), and cost issues (tile is much more expensive, especially when you factor in the labor costs for installation), it's LVP for us.

Any recommendations for brands? Especially for better brands for scratch resistance? Thanks!

I have Armstrong's Enchanted Forest Fog vinyl in my bathroom. At first there was an odor and I'm very sensitive to smells so I was afraid I'd have to have it ripped out. But with an air purifier and a couple months passed, the odor has gone. I like the look of the flooring and it's warmer than tile or stone. Easy to clean and so far no issues but I'm not moving furniture on it and nothing is scratching it.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm glad many of you have had positive experiences with your LVP floors.

We ended up going with the Armstrong Rigid core planks in a light color:

https://www.armstrongflooring.com/re...tem/PC017.html

This is going in our basement, so real wood was not an option. We've flooded before and even though we've taken many precautions to make sure we don't flood again, I don't want to have to rip out wet carpet or replace wood floors if it happens. We considered the wood look tiles, but I just couldn't get excited about them. They're so hard and unforgiving if you drop a glass and I know that's going to happen eventually since we'll have a bar down there.

We're having all the furniture custom made and they'll definitely put felt glides on everything, but some surfaces scratch even with felt glides, which is why I was initially concerned. I really hope the flooring we picked will hold up, but it seems like it should.

I'm excited to get the floors. I'm also going to be putting area rugs under the sofa and in the play room, but it won't be 100% covered or anything. The rugs are for look/comfort more than anything. Hopefully the installation isn't too bad... we're doing it ourselves, just like everything else.
