I recently went to a relative's house and it was tiled everywhere and every room except for the stairs.

Any pros and cons? I thought the maybe the costs is prohibitive but it probably lasts much longer and more durable than any type of wood flooring.

I have and I don't like it. It's cold and hard on your feet, knees and back. It would also make the home hard to sell IMO.

I don't think the cost is that prohibitive. What I have seen more often is tile everywhere except the bedrooms. I think that before I did tile everywhere I would do vinyl plank instead. It isn't as cold or hard.

My SM likes this because she likes everything to be OCD clean.

Yes. I don't like it. It would be great in very hot climates like Miami but tile is so cold if you get temperature drops.

I guess it's all relative - I have tile in most areas of my house and am barefoot most of the time inside, summer or winter. The floor is cool, but not especially cold - maybe because I have a basement? But that is common in many parts of the country.

We have a winter home in Arizona and we went all tile. After 3.5 years we still love it. Cleanups are a breeze. I really think flooring really depends on geographical location. Tile is great in Arizona, but our Alaska house has mostly laminate. Entryway, laundry room and bathrooms are LVT and two bedrooms are carpet. All tile would not be a good choice in Alaska.

Yes, when I lived in Mexico. Just remember that grout is a PITA to clean. People think tile is easier to clean - but forget about cleaning the grout.

It's pretty, doesn't hold onto dog hair, which I appreciate. Is nice and cool on your feet in summer and you can just put a rug down when you want it to be warm....

But - you need to deal with the grout. Which is a pain.

I have a good friend with an expensive place in the SF Bay Area, and she's had problems trying to find help to clean her house. She bought a roomba to clean the floors, but it couldn't deal with her tile floors with grout.

So, even though it's beautiful and cool and doesn't hold onto pet hair, etc., - you will need to figure out who and/or how you are going to deal with cleaning it and the grout around it. And therein lies the major challenge.

You mean on the ceilings? In closets? In garage? That would be peculiar.
My aunt's home in Florida had tile floors. She had foot rugs near the beds.
