Anyone here ever have a Solatube done on a tile roof? Not skylights, but
Solatubes. We had a solatube in our last house in the windowless bath
and LOVED it. We had asphalt shingles on that house. Our new house
is flat tile, and the same installers said they put them on tile roofs all the
time. So, has anyone here done just that? With no problems?ie,installation
and looks? Thanks!

I don't have one on my tile roof but several of my neighbors do, haven't heard of any problems. Not sure why they'd have a problem doing it, the plumbing vents and gas flue run through with not problems.

Make sure you have a COMPETENT installer, get some references.

Our builders will not let us do the installation before they put the
roof on.(Centex) So, it would have to be done after the tile is
up and on already. Im worried about breakage of tiles while installing?

I would be concerned too... these days, it doesn't take much to void a warranty or at least give the company wiggle room.

There is an entire track near me that has tile and Solatube and I am not aware of any problems...

Thanks! I am concerned about that too. I guess I could wait tilll the 2 yr
warranty is up and then have one installed for that windowless bathroom.
Bummer. Oh well, the other 2 baths have windows!

I have looked at the Solatube (aka Suntunnel) for awhile now and wondered how much interior heat they produce? I have regular asphalt shingles, so I'm assuming installation would be easy?

Very easy indeed! And no heat that I ever noticed and I had it in the
kitchen. They are the best! Get one
