Not as dated as pink and gray.

I have lime green with black tile trim. Built in 1948. I love it and that’s all that matters.

Go with what you like, because if it isn’t dated now, give it a year or so. LOL

I grew up in a house with peach and blue tile in the bathroom. The tile was no problem, but having only one bathroom for four people certainly was.

It depends on the tile. If it's the type that is smooth and shiney and still has clean looking grout then it's a classic look, not a trendy one. On the other hand if the tile has some sort of bumpy texture it may look dated. I have that kind in my laundry room and it screams "home improvement warehouse special" to me.

I seriously considered buying a little bungalow specifically because it had lime green tile with black trim in the bathroom. It was totally precious and untouched, plus the tub was a corner tub. Unfortunately the rest of the house had too many issues to make it worth my while. I love original tile and could cheerfully mangle whoever painted the original 1959 linoleum wall tile in my kitchen. Grrrr.

When I moved into my 1970s brick ranch, the kitchen backsplash was covered with 2-inch hexagonal tiles - avocado green (naturally) mini monstrosities with an embossed daisy in the center of each. To make matters worse, the thick grout lines were dark chocolate brown. Talk about groovy, man.

Hideous doesn't even begin to describe it. How this tile lasted on those walls for almost 50 years is beyond me. Were all previous owners blind? Or just lazy?

Although removing tiles is not a pleasant task, living under the same roof with that dated s*** was never an option. I chiseled all of it off within the first few weeks of moving in and replaced it with a warm neutral natural stone 4x4 that will last the test of time.

You really have to wonder what some people are thinking when they apply tile. Please promise your future homeowners that you'll never be one of those people!

"Dated" is a term used to con people into replacing something that has nothing wrong with it. New is always better.LOL

I agree. There's no way I'd chisel the original 1959 4X4 white shower enclosure tiles off plaster walls anyway. Just the ensuing mess alone would deter me. Besides, they match the original cast iron tub!

1998 you say?

Is the grout "chocolate brown" and quarter inch?

LOL, y'all remember that "style?" LOL!

Mauve & sky blue, LOL
