I have a green countertop in my bathroom from 1994 that I don't really care for-I was going to gut the whole bathroom but now I'm thinking about just doing a light/cheap renewing of the bathroom just to get by for a few years. The countertop appears to be plastic/acrylic maybe? Is there some type of epoxy paint I can use on it to make it a different color? Any suggestions that will hold up to the water? Also, is there anything I can use to change the gold faucet color? Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!
Personally, I would just install a new counter top and faucet. Pretty easy to do if you're handy at all, like my husband is. We found a nice new faucet for under $20 on sale...you can find counter tops for cheap too.
Naw forget it, anything like paint will be tacky, might peel, etc.
As stated best to just replace it. Look around for surplus or discount building supply places, avoid the big box stores for new on the shelf stuff. You can find nice replacement for a few bucks. Local I've seen it as low as $10 new for something about that size. Don't buy cheap faucets, again look for it surplus, discount or on line. One way is check with the big box stores, try to get one of their display units, they sell them off when changing inventory. You just don't get the box, can be very cheap for quality. Same might work for the counter.
What you have is called Cultured Marble. It looks to be 31 X 22. That green color was the big fad of the 90s. I loved it at one time myself and it used to be in my showoom. Any of your big box stores sell this item in all the standard shades of tan for about $45.00. They simply get glued on top of the vanity with some dabs of 100% silicone or liquid nails. No tools are needed but for R&R of the plumbing.
There is no type of paint or epoxy that will stick to this. If you try it will last maybe a week.
On changing your one piece Cultured Marble CT, you said you want to dress up things just a little without spending a bunch. Buy a new faucett with the CT. You can buy a cheap $20 one that will last a year or 2 till you do your total makeover.
Thanks for the responses everyone! I'll check into replacing it with something else.
Google Lowes , McCoys or Home Depot.. I just bought a 5 foot top from Lowes with 2 sinks for $219.00 looks real nice, it's looks like marble...We are redoing both bathrooms, one is finished.
