Okay so we now have to buy a new dryer. The old one quit working. Where we are moving they do not have natural gas, they have propane. So I know natural gas is cheaper then electric, but I am wondering if electric is cheaper then propane?
I tried hitting google last nite and left more confused then before!
Some comments did seem to lean in that direction. That electric is cheaper to use then propane.
Does anyone here have any personal experience with it though? Thanx!
I bought a house last year that has a propane-powered dryer. As for the propane itself it depends on what the price per gallon is out in your area. Think about it, if you have a nearly full propane tank that can last a long time depending on use. My dryer in the house runs on propane and I have to say that it dries my clothes very well.
Whether electric is better depends on the rates in the area. If the rates are high it may be better to go the propane route, you may have to compare what electric may cost vs. propane in the long run.
Since I use my dryer on the weekends when doing laundry (and dont have very much to wash and dry), I won't use much propane at all. Hopes this helps some.
Generally, propane is more expensive than electricity (although the rates vary and can fluctuate seasonally).
I have used both. Propane gets hotter than electricity so the load dries faster, which is nice, but then again, sometimes it (propane) can yellow the whites.
I kinda prefer propane, but I may go to electricity just because of the cost.
