I read somewhere that someone who was a fireman hates Cape Cod style houses, I think for safety reasons.
Are there fire safety issues that are peculiar to this style of house? I would imagine that if there are no dormer windows, it might be harder to get out of a burning house if you are upstairs, but that's all I can think of. Are there other issues, such as fire spread patterns, etc.?
I love cape houses. I find them attractive and unpretentius. But they will lose their appeal for me if there are special fire or structural dangers.
