Would a 3 bed, 2 bath, single story home with a full shower in lieu of a tub/shower combo in the hall bath be a turnoff or a plus for you if you were interested in the house? Would the shower only be enough to make you not want to buy the house? The master would have a tub and seperate shower. Just curious.

If the house was perfect in every other way....I may overlook it now that my child is older.
My professional opinion: Gotta go with the tub/shower combo in the hall bath, for reasons already stated. From a resale perspective, especially on a home that size, you're turning off a pretty large segment of potential buyers with kids. If you have the choice, get the tub, too.
My personal opinion: I'd rather have a large, "fancy" shower with NO tub in the master, with a tub/shower combo for my kids in the hall bath! My big garden tub holds my laundry baskets.
Shower and Tub in hall bathroom. That said, we only had a bathtub in our hall bathroom, but it wasn't that much to have a shower installed. So, I'd consider a tub only with the idea of insalling a shower.

That's funny, NCHomeBuyer, because my husband and I both rejected quite a few houses because the master only had a shower & there was no room to renovate it and add a bath. We both enjoy soaking in the tub after a stressful day. For us, the garden tubs are ideal! But I think we are the exception to the rule. I think a lot of people say they want the big garden tub, but then they only use it, say, 4 times a year. But not us. Ours gets used at least once a week.
I'm the odd person out: I love showers, hate baths. At the moment I have a goodsized (3'x5') shower (only) in the master bath, and a tub (only) in the hall bath. If I were remaining in this house, I would rip out the tub and install a shower there instead. With a bad back, I find it far easier to clean a shower than a bathtub, especially those blasted oversized ones!
My only regret is that I didn't make the shower larger (4' wide x 5' long) and completely doorless: No shower-door glass to keep clean!!
