One thing you did not mention was ventilation?

Be cautious, because in older houses the windows were meant to be functional.

(I personally pass on any home w/o operable bathroom windows. Call me old-fashioned. I just don't trust those little anemic fans. I'm a fan of fresh air and sunshine=nature's deodorizer )

Edited to add:

Didn't want to sound like such a Debbie Downer.

It's a cute bath. And I know the glass block solution is popular because it adds both light and privacy.

Just wanted to point out that there might be some additional expense whether you go with one of the ventilated glass block systems or decide to go with an exhaust fan to the outside. Too many DIYers do the cheap thing and just slap a ceiling vent fan in and run it to the attic. Not a good idea.

No, this is a good point. I can't remember if there is a fan in there or not. This was our house that we couldn't sell when we had a job transfer and we have been renting it out for the past 3 years. We are contemplating putting it on the market and installing the shower will just make this bathroom more functional. There is a bedroom next to the bathroom so it would probably get used and would add value to the house. We were going to do this when we lived there but didn't get around to doing it before we got transferred.

We're in a similar situation. We'd like to replace the existing tub with a glass doored shower and insert, replace the toilet with a more water efficient model, lay down new linoleum or fake tile, then also replace the sink and vanity and medicine cabinet. We're also going to do something with the walls, maybe a bottom half acrylic material covering of some kind with wall paper on top. And replace the existing baseboard radiator and cover. Then replace the closet and bathroom doors. Nothing high end but not cheap either. I was thinking in the range of 6 to 7 thousand. The flooring around the toilet would need to be replaced as well as maybe by the tub. Its a small bathroom. So am I lowballing it too much or is that about right? Also how long would a job like this take. 2 or 3 days?
