I like to use unusual items for storage and organization. I found two lazy susans with raised scalloped edges on an internet auction site and use them to store daily mail and other papers until I can file them. One is in my office room and the other is on my dresser. I'd like to see what the rest of you might use.

I just deal with the mail daily, pay any bills, file whatever necessary. No need for storage.

Newspapers go in the basket with magazines. When a new one comes in, the old one is tossed.

I deal with 99% of my mail daily too. But there are some bills that I dont pay immediately and some mail to which I cant respond that very day. I'm hoping that others will share whatever interesting items they have for storing for their papers short-term.

A folder in my laptop bag then filed in the file cabinet after bill has been paid or whatever is needed out of it. Everything else gets thrown in the trash or is a good fire starter for the firepit.

I have a napkin holder (used for dinner napkins) made of black wire and shaped like a cow. I put bills and letters that need to be paid/responded to. I make sure it's somewhere important to remind me. I thought it was more fun to put bills in a wire cow then one of those letter-holders they sell at office supply stores.

The rest of the stuff that needs to be filed, goes in a small basket until I get to it.

I agree! This is the kind of answer for which I was looking. Thanks so much for sharing!

I was debating posting my answer which is just a simple shoe box. But your mention of the wire cow blew me away. My Mom still uses that wire cow but hers is more then 40 years old. Are you saying they still sell these stupid things? Firewheel are you showing your age? How long have you had your wire cow?

I open the mail as soon as I get it, trash the junk, stick bills on the fridge in a magnet clip, and put stuff to file in/on/near the file until I actually take the time to file it. I have a wire mesh basket on my desk for other things-to-get-to, but it's not shaped like a cow, unfortunately

Most of the bills are now automatic draft, so that eliminates a lot of paper. I have been putting the other "little" mail in a basket on the kitchen table, but I love the wire cow idea! I would like to find a wire pig or bunny.

desertsun, I'm old enough to have bought a wire cow brand-new. But I'm not the one who posted that. It was South Jersey Stix.
