We were perusing a few gas grills at a local retailer who showed us the Weber Genesis E-320 in black for $669. This includes delivery, assembly and stainless steel grate. We're excited about this grill, but a tad apprehensive due to the price. We expected to pay far less, as we are beginner grillers.

I'm interested to know what gas grills you'd recommend and why.

TIA

My parents and my sister each just purchased similar sounding Weber grills, and they love them. My parents resisted spending so much, but now they regret not getting one sooner. I never cooked on one but as a guest at a recent BBQ I can honestly say that it was the best steak I ever had.

I have a Brinkman. It is consumers reports best bang for your buck. The grill gets hot. It is evenly heated. After a year and a have the starter still works as well as the side flame. I am happy with it. I have learned to look at consumer reports for eerything before I purchase.

My wife is a professional chef. We were married in 2002. My wedding gift to her was a Weber silver grill. Not very romantic, I know, but that is what she wanted. She is delighted by it to this day.

I think it boils down to how much you can spend. If you can buy a $700 grill then the weber should be a good choice as you can't go wrong.
In sub $300 range is where you need to do your research. I recently purchased a Broilmate 155164 for $229 from Ace. It has good reviews too, and its made in North America.

Several years ago - my wife bought me the top-of-the-line Jenn-Air SS grill that Lowes carries to replace my aging Weber. I THINK it was $1,200 - give or take. The Jenn-Air was a piece of crap! Garbage! I sold it on Craig's List for $750 and purchased a Genesis E320. The E320 is the BEST Weber I have ever owned! I'm pretty sure I just saw that Consumer Reports just rated the E320 the best grill.

I have had the same Weber, two burner grill foe eight years and it still works like it did on day one. Only thinking about replacing it because we need a bigger grill(more mouths to feed). The new one will definately be a Weber.

Weber for gas.
Brinkman for wood (not coal, wood)
Weber for coal.

Same here...Bought mine 8 years ago and still works as good as the day I got it. I was also apprehensive about the price but you're better off spending a little more now than having to replace a cheaper one in a few years, I know because that's what I did ...I cheeped out and bought a $200.00 Char-Broil and within 3 years it was basically junk.
