Anyone been shopping rates lately? I have looked on interest.com and smarthippo.com and are just curious as to what anyone else has gotten. Im not sure how we shop rates without them pulling our credit and I dont want to do that until I have a better idea of who has the best rate since all those inquiries will lower our score. Here is what Im seeing...maybe someone can shed some light...
HSBC 4.75% WITH $0 CLOSING
AMEGY BANK 4.375% plus $1172 in fees(not sure what for) and it doesnt say anything about closing costs so I assume they have to be paid.

Also, we are only 2nd time homebuyers, and want to know how typical is it that buyer can get seller to pay closing costs? When we bought our first home we knew nothing and we were using the sellers agent so she didnt help us or tell us that we could ask for closing costs so we paid them all. Our next home we would like to avoid all or some of the closing costs if possible Any info is appreciated..thanks

I found my mortgage broker using zillow.com, you can get anonymous quotes sent to you. They're accurate as long as you don't exaggerate your credit score or income.

For the most part, you should have no problem getting closing cost help. It's actually very common.
