I haven't been but will have to try it there!

Some of my favorite places are:
Mrs. White's - Phoenix
Hash-House-A-Go-Go - San Diego
Brother Dave's - Little Rock

and just about any place in the Amana Colonies, IA. GREAT "home cooking".

Yes, they have great fried chicken at the bar-b-que Inn. It is a definite throwback.

Thanks for the location clarification. When I think North Houston, I think 1960, not the Heights.

If I bike there from Memorial, I might burn enough calories to try it. LOL.

I love Barbecue Inn, but for their Chicken Fried Steak, which I think is the best in Houston.

Their fried chicken is great too, but I tend to like Frenchy's just a little bit better. Spicy, don'tcha see....

However, for 60's Houston ambiance, you can't beat Barbecue Inn.

It's just north of 610 at Yale and Crosstimbers.

Thumbs up BBQ Inn

I have been eating at the BBQ Inn for about 30 years (I am 37 years old). I have never had a bbq dish from this establishment. Usually I order their fried shrimp (delicious), I also enjoy their ranch dressing on the salad. Their chocolate and pecan pies are wonderful as well.

Recently they have made a few changes...the waitresses are getting younger (and when I say younger they are now middle aged to 60 ish), previously many of their waitresses reminded me of Flo fro the TV show in the 70's called Mel's Diner. I really miss some of their waitresses who seem to have made a career working at BBQ Inn; you know the type that call everyone honey, sugar or baby.

They have also decreased the size of the drinking glasses which creates a problem when they are busy and one would like a refill of tea. I wish they would not have done this

I have enjoyed going to this restaurant for so many years.

I would highly recommend it. Be prepared to wait if you arrive at lunch or prime dinner times.
