I knew this neighbrohood was bad when I cut through there once and saw an entire home lot surrounded by an 8 foot chain-link fence with barbed wire.

Idiot cop left his handgun in his pickup overnight. He's lucky his wife is alive.

How did I miss that part of the story? Agree it wasn't too smart to leave the gun in the truck.

I thought the same thing Skye... a few weeks ago a person in my subdivision sent an email regarding his car being broken into and how the perp was lucky he didn't hear him... he cited the Castle Doctrine etc. Now, I thought in order to use deadly force you had to be in fear of your life... but I found out it varies from state to state. So then I looked at the Texas Penal Code, and sure enough there is an entire section outlining the use of force and deadly force to protect ones property. Texas (surprise) is one of the most leniant when it comes to the use of deadly force.

Yes it is. TX law allows a homeowner to defend their property using deadly force at night. That includes personal property inside or outside your residence, or even your car that might be parked on the street.
