Galveston is too small. Well, Houston is larger than Dallas and Fort-Worth combined, so it can stand by itself.

Yes it is. Dallas is 1,299,543 and FW is 727,575. Their combined population is 2,027,118. Houston is 2,257,926. That's a 230,808 difference. Throw in Plano with Dallas and FW and you have Houston's population.

Just call it what it is, "The Greater Houston Area." That should be the M.S.A. name.

HtownLove, I appreiate you liking the name that we Houstonians have only ever known. Houston does not need to be linked to nother city's name in the M.S.A. Nobody in Houston or the U.S. links the name to any other city. Houston is a stand alone city. It does it all by itself. It does not need another city's name to make it seem bigger in the M.S.A. The Greater Houston Area is the M.S.A.
