We attended St. Laurence briefly - beautiful church! But we felt "lost" there with it having such a huge congregation. We have friends who love to attend St. Laurence because it's a beautiful church and THEY feel at home there. After hearing their glowing recommendation, we decided to keep trying but we never felt inspired by the homilies. Never once had our friends mentioned feeling inspired by the message; they were inspired by the look of the building.
Funny how people can have very different impressions of the same experience.

As a "building," I find St. Laurence to be very "blah," a relic from an era of Catholic Church architecture that I find very underwhelming (we came from Christ the Redeemer in Cypress, where the new building is nothing short of stunning). But we very much enjoy the community and I feel well-fed spiritually by the Mass and ministry. I think what we get out of certain messages depends a lot on where we are in our spiritual journey and messages that inspire some people will leave others empty.

The message is not lame.

The Christian Crusades were lame and all of the wars and conditioning of religion is lame.

Spirituality is not lame. Created religions are lame.
And the conditioning of no religion which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of millions in the last century is lame.

Even more lame is spouting childish contrarian philosophy in response to someone asking about a church they would like to go to in Houston. Imagine that.

Posting a song that carries a message is not childish spouting.

The conditioning/brainwashing of religion has far more deaths associated...and you will see no end to this.

Not believing in man created religion does not equate to being conditioned/brainwashed against it. I did not come into this world being conditioned to not believe in religion. The opposite occurred as it does with most everyone on the planet. Many people evolve past their religious conditionings onto a different spiritual path once they realize that religion is purely conditioned.
