My husband and I are planning on moving to Houston, TX ASAP, but we both need jobs there. I'm a teacher & have a BS in IT, and my husband works for the State of Nevada with Early Intervention Services for kids with developmental delays. If anyone has any leads, please reply!

Thanks and God Bless you!

Surely you jest. The State is in as bad of shape as California and they are about to lay off 1/2 the workforce. The headline today is the governor wants to cut the social services budget in 1/2.

Yes, Houston is not doing well with jobs right now. I just saw a lady being dismissed from her job today. Awful...

ECI in houston has already been cut to the bare bones. they are going to get cut more. social services in general will be difficult. is he a MSW/whats his study in? medical social work is good in houston but that is highly competitive. hed need a masters and a license

i work for the state and simply give thanks im tenured. itll be a blood bath in Texas for employees and families. i am sure more hiring freezes will happen

the outlook for teachers isnt looking too great either

The BS in IT might come in handy. There are lots of big companies not doing too badly. Social services, though, are being hard-hit everywhere. I'm moving to Houston myself from Illinois and we have lots of state budget problems back there, too.
