hello,

Currently in Austin but moving to Houston to buy our first house. I like Trendmaker homes and Meritage but I would love to do more custom homes plans and structul updates. Any advice. Has anybody built outside of a community and bought the lot. If so, what was your experience. I need help! Please. So much research! Looking for atleast 4,000ft. I like katy, sugarland, humble, and conroe. I would love to have a home with acerage. Where should I start, What contacts should I make?

If you go to Oakhurst in Kingwood there is a custom builder there, Frontier, that has a section. I don't know a ton about them but they make some very nice houses, and they have a lot of available homes there for sale so that would give you an opportunity to check out their work and maybe talk to people who bought from them. As for acreage the only areas I know are Riverwalk in Porter and Walden on Lake Houston. Something to start with at least, hope it helps.

Hi Chris,

I'm a local agent...Spring/Klein/Woodlands area (northside of Houston/I45). It will all boil down to $$$, you might fair better buying an established home on acreage. As the market has been a bit slow, there are some good buys now. Magnolia/Conroe area has many communites that offer acreage lots.

Happy house hunting!

There are some beautiful homes built as a custom home with accreage just what you are looking for, located in Fulshear not too far from Katy, if you take I 10 to 99 Grand Parkway take off on 1093 to right side go straight you will get to Fulshear, you would fall in love with the setting of the homes, lots of trees I seen in some of those subdivisions. no house is identical there.

There is a nice custom section in Champion Woods where I'm building a house right now.

The builders in there are all great, in my opinion. Its in the Klein area.

Check out Benders Landing in Spring. Taylor Jacob and Caretex are 2 of the builders that I've heard good things about.
