Hi there - DH and I are looking to relocate (currently at 1-10 & Kirkwood) . We're seriously considering the Oak Park Trails sub-division in Katy because it offers our blended family the square footage we need (at least on the weekends) and the price tag we can afford. Not to mention access to what appears to be some good schools. We also have a little guy so those schools are more important to me than anything. Our primary interest is in a home that has a minimum of 4 bedrooms, a gameroom for the kids to enjoy, and a kitchen for Momma to enjoy cooking for everyone in. Master down would be lovely. The latest and greates upgrades are a not a deal-stopper - I'm okay with no granite or stainless steel as long as the bones of the house are good and we can upgrade as a labor of love.

The research I have done so far as indicated that at one time there were some home builders in OPT that built some less than well-built homes and a lot of home-owners suffered. I'm wondering if anyone has any current information on the state of the development today AND any current events that would be impacting the area. From what I can tell, OPT is about 1,000 homes and right now 17 of them are on the market - so I want to validate whether people love living there or have had bad experiences.

My goal is to find a neighborhood where we can plant solid roots, enjoy friendly neighbors and contribute to our overall community. So I really want to make the most informed decision - cause I just can't stand the idea of moving anymore

Any and all advice, information, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I've gained some good information from perusing the forums thus far.

Thanks Much!

I noticed you posted this over 3 months ago. Did you end up moving to OPT? We are also considering this neighborhood for the same reasons.

Did you hear anything on the condition and value of the homes? We drove through it one evening and found it to be very nice...but we know there's a lot more to consider. Any advice or information would be very helpful and appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

You can do a lot better (community, schools, taxes) than OPT. I'd keep looking if I were you.

Default Feedback Desired

Hello - I am considering this neighborhood as well. Anyone from the area want to give input on the Elementary School, neighborhood "feel/friendliness," crime or lack of crime in the area?
