google katycouponers

IMO - the show is horrible. normal couponers do not go to the extremes that these people do.

also kroger stopped doubling and tripling.

true, there are not many fresh produce or meat coupons but there are some. check the wine bottles for produce or meat coupons. sometimes they are on there but you have to make sure they say no wine purchase necessary.

I got into this a little a couple of years ago before we had our first child.
It is a lot of work involved.
Clipping coupons from multiple Sunday papers, going to numerous stores in one day, multiple transactions at each store, often having to put up with incompetent cashiers and store managers who think you're tying to pull a fast one on them.
And like has been mentioned, the coupons are almost always for frozen or canned foods.
Not exactly the healthiest choices in the world.
I just decided it was too much work.
It is like a part-time job onto itself.
Maybe if I was a SAHM.

The time, energy and gas you put into chasing these deals down is not worth it. It's also not worth the dirty glares you get from angry shoppers behind you. I once witnessed this rude man humiliate this woman in front of him who had just a few coupons. He made some racial slurs about being cheap, rolled his eyes, sighed heavily, etc. I was mortified for that woman. There is no shame in doing it if you want to, but I just don't think it's worth all that to save 40c.
If you want to save money, effective and efficient and healthy ways are to 1.) Eat in and pack lunches rather that eat out; 2.) Eat more produce and water and reduce consumption of meat and dairy and alcohol 3.) Buy generic brands rather than name brands (ie, HEB crackers rather than brand ***...often, generic brand is still cheaper than brandname product after coupon discount) 4.) Buy regular or bulk packages rather than 'dieters 100cal pre-rationed packages' (but the down side to buying bulk is you end up overeating and you get fat and didn't save money) 5.) Don't buy pre-prepared food such as precut vegetable trays or preseasoned and preskewered kebobs 6.) Cut out cigarettes and minimize alcohol consumption.
This applies to household cleaners and other products too

Just for the record, it's not just saving 40c. Say the item is originally $1.99. You have a coupon for 75c, but it is double coupons, so it's actually $1.50 off the price of the item. You paid 49c for a $1.99 item. You saved 75%. That's a huge discount that you don't see for sales. Usually these items are frozen or packaged foods that can be stored so you would buy a bunch of extra coupons (add 5c to the cost of the item) and stock your pantry. You can literally cut your grocery bill in half or more. That's no small savings especially for a large family.

However, I'm not advocating this way of shopping. My better for your health in the long run to buy fresh, local and organic.

from what I have seen their bills go down because of the coupons that make money.

For example if something is normally 8 bucks and the coupon is for 4 bucks, if you find the item on sale for 2 bucks, and you buy 10, you will be making 2 bucks for each item, or in other words have $20 deducted from the rest of your bill.

They also seem to make money on the buy one get one free sale items in combination with coupons. If say toothpaste is buy one get one free, and you have a $1.50 off for each and you buy ten, you are getting 5 free and basically 3 bucks off of the other 5. So if the Toothpaste costs $3.25, you will only be paying $1.25 for ten of em.

anyway it seems like a lot of work to me. lots of planing and calculating, but the do save a lot

There are coupons for veggies, meats, organic items etc....you just have to look harder for them or email the company. I used to walk right by them until I learned to coupon.

Just recently I was out of town and saw coupons in a grocery store (that we don't have) for $1 off beef and another for $1 off pork. They were just sitting right by the meats.

Free Coupons | Mambo Sprouts - Organic recipes, coupons and healthy lifestyle options. you can print here and combine them with Whole Foods coupons and get a good price on many things. These change so keep checking back for items you use.

Most people see the trash coupons in the inserts and think "who would buy this stuff"... I get it b/c I feel the same way about most of them. I get 90% of my coupons for foods online on numerous websites.

Some say it's not worth the time, to some it may not be but when I was able to drop by grocery bill to $250 a month it was certainly worth mine. That is everything household(food + diapers+ cleaning) but beer and premium dog food.

I actually like people who say it's not worth their time, those who say that store brand is cheaper, those who can't find deals on foods they eat. More stuff for me
