Hello everyone, MY name is Hannah. I am 28 years old and I currently live in Toledo Ohio. looking for a different environment. Never been to Texas before. I am currently a nurse and I need your assistance on a good, safe and affordable places to live in Houston, good hospitals to work and other things to do like horse back riding, bungee jumping or para sailing. Oh Im single and will like to meet new friends. My budget is around 400-500dollars. Lastly does the rent include the electricity , water etc or do you pay for that separately?. Thank you for taking the time out to answer my questions.Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated..

That's a pretty darn low budget for an apartment. You might be able to get that with a roommate at Richmont square (2BR's typically run about 900-1000...1BR runs around $550-$600, I think), and it's in a pretty safe area in Montrose (which is about 10-15 minutes from the Medcenter, where all the best hospitals are). My wife works at Texas Childrens, and it's supposed to be the best place to work in Houston (and not just for hospitals). And typically, water and electricity are not included in rent.

I'd agree with bigpapasmurf76 that $400-500 is VERY low income to live on in Houston. Even if you are living with someone else and splitting the rent. You'd likely still have the utilities and food on top of that.

From experience, the "all utilities paid" places (water and elec. included) are often questionable and risky places. If you're looking for a safe area, you probably need more money to live on. Probably at least $700-800 month, at least. Wow, I couldn't imagine trying to survive on even that...
