Relocating to Houston for work and looking for a nice neighborhood for the family and I to live in.
Specifics: Job located on Homestead Rd. S. of 610 and N. of 10.
Would like to keep the drive to a max of 30 mins.
3 elementary aged kids, so school very important.
250,00 home value max.
I know there is a million of posts about relocating, but if someone could give some know how with thespecs I gave I would greatly appreciate it. Not knowing traffic patterns is my major downfall on info.
Thanks.

Your job location is not north of 10, did you mean north of Main?

For good schools all the way through under $250k in a southernly direction, there is Sugarland and Pearland areas.

You might think about Summerwood, to the NW a little.

Any neighborhoods that are even slightly good are no where near being a 30 minute commute. You might get lucky and hit 45 minutes with HOV usage and other factors coming together, but more likely you are looking at about 60 minutes each way, every day. I'm in Friendswood and I really like it here, but man the traffic really shuts things down on the freeway once you get to the beltway.

I second Summerwood. Beltway 8 to 90 would be the fastest commute to a good neighborhood.

Well let's see you have 2 options.

River Oaks, and Galleria/Loop area condos/townhomes.

Everything else wouldn't be included in any reasonable definition of "nice."
Douche.

SMUelitist, your ignorance is matched only by your immaturity. Please troll elsewhere.

Isn't SMU and Elitist kind of an oxymoron? Wouldn't anyone who attended a second tier university have to be fairly run of the mill?
