I'm a young female working in the downtown area and want to move in the inner loop or just outside of 610 along woodway drive. I'm looking for 1 bedroom or studio apartments around 700 sq or more. I wish I can save money without sacrificing safety and low drive time. I am willing to drive longer distances if I don't have to deal with traffic. I can also live without washer and dryer in the unit if there is one in the common areas. My budget is around $900 but the more money I can save the better.

So far, I have looked at Allen House which didn't seem very secure and I've looked at Park at Voss which seemed to be in a high traffic area.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on which apartments I should take a look at?

Thanks in advance.

Try the Retreat at City Park on TC Jester. They might have some apartments in your price range; they did 2 years ago, but the rates inside the loop have gone up since then. The apartments over on Ella near 610 might also have something as well.

Allen House, I hear, is pretty safe. Lots of long-time residents there, or at least there were before they tore half the place down for a shopping center that never happened.

Try Creole on Yorktown near the Galleria. It's a nice property and reasonable. Don't confuse these apartments with Yorktown Apartments, which are not as nice. A lot of my teacher colleagues who worked for HISD have lived there, and if I remember right, they have a variety of prices depending where your apartment is located on the premises (i.e. by the pool, the parking lot, etc.).
