Im 24 and am making 50k. Only have a 8th grade education.

That's before overtime. I work 6-10 hours average OT, although sometimes when I get busy I might work 20-35 hours OT in a week.

Seriously.

I lived off of ~10K for 10mos when I was unemployed and single with rent and car payment. I KNOW you can make 75K work for you!

Perhaps you need to review your budgeting or your expectations or both.

Edited to add: Oh yes, weren't you the one that said you like the Adult Entertainment Industry in that other thread? Yeah, that gets expensive!

75k is a good living. You must not be taking care of your money. Don't think that all the folks you see driving expensive cars aren't maxed in debt.

Welcome to the real world, which I have found few of us on city-data live in as far as economically goes.

I am 33 and make 65k a year in IT. I am curious on those who make 6 figures. If you don't mind answering these questions. What degree/certificates do you have and how many years experience in your field?

Six figures really isn't that tough in Houston. Especially if you are in Sales. Even though a degree isn't absolutely necessary, it is desired. However, the type of degree is wide open. I have worked with degree-holders across the spectrum: liberal arts, biology, communications, engineering, etc.

The biggest attribute in sales is the ability to communicate. If you have that, $100k+ is actually pretty easy.

This. And if you get into O&G marketing or trading, after 5 years of industry experience, base salary is around 120-150k. Bonuses are really based on how much you hustle. 2 to 3 times salary is not unheard of. If you work for one of the bigger companies, you won't make nearly as much. Oddly true.
