Hello all,

I will relocate from Denver to Houston in the next few weeks for a job transfer. I have a little daughter of 7 years old. My wife and I plan to rent a townhome in Villas of Sweetwater subdivision in Sugarland 77479. I also have a little puppy.

I am new to Houston, especially this subdivision, I appreciate if anyone can give me some advice/tips if this is a good and safe neighborhood for my family and especially good school for my 7-year old daughter; anything I should watch out for.

Or if you know a better neighborhood to rent near the energy corridor district, please let me know as well.

I heard many good things about Houston, but still like to ask for your helpful tips and advice to settle down in Houston.

Thank you so much for time and help

- Tony

Hi, I was just looking up the same thing! My husband works shutdowns, and we are getting ready to move from Bellingham, WA! We also have a dog and a toddler. I will definitely keep an eye on your post for more answers. Hope for some soon :-)

I am thinking of moving to the TX area and want some opinions!! I live in a smaller city in Indiana based upon automotive factories that are in a rut,, Our unemployment rates are ridiculous talking 14% and right around there. Our crime rate is getting out of hand (of course) So what I am looking for is some where around the same size populations of 50K-100K very low crime rates and decent cost of living. Also how humid is TX?? To the decent cost of living our jobs typically here pay 7.50 and hr and you can't rent a 3br house for under 600.00, Gas is 3.44 milk is around 3.00. We are looking to either of course better ourselves or stay average.

The Katy burbs are much closer to The Energy Corridor than SugarLand. Same type schools, same type of MPC setup.

Of course renting townhouses in the EC is very doable. Excellent schools and family neighborhoods there as well.
