This is great for any city. It adds "life" to a city.

So I guess, because TimBomb doesn't know any cool people here, they must not exist.

Could it be that it is thee who is not cool?

I've met street bums with better logic than that.

Or maybe none of them say they moved to houston because the city is 'cool'? None. I know its hard to grasp especially since were the beacon of light for these so called 'mayan people'

Well, you're only helping to prove my point that you're obviously a stranger to much of the culture that does indeed exist here, and clearly you think that you speak for everyone.

So I guess I'll ask, what is "cool" to you? And what are these "cool" cities that you think every young person has the desire to flock to?

My point is that you seem to be suggesting that because there's nothing YOU see cool about Houston, that no one does.

As a single young man myself, the only places I would rather live than Houston are New York, Chicago, and maybe DC. Cities like Los Angeles and Miami, I would enjoy visiting, but not living in.

So, how is it that a 37-year-old, who likely moved here for a job opportunity and settled straight in the suburbs, is so sure of whether or not a city is perceived as cool by any young people?

At my work, they've hire several people in "high paying jobs" lately.

People, especially young people, are always going to go to where the jobs are.
you are an SA expat too? Is there anything that you are missing yet? I have been trying to think and it all revolves around friends and a restaurant or two.

ok. you are giving me some tree falling in the forest, noone's seen santa therefore he exist stoner crap. or some inner loop 'youre not looking hard enough' thinking. not sure I cant go there. I think you should say something about your background and mention how houston is a move up for you so i can understand whats up with you. 2nd you might want to read the title or the article in question so we dont have to get into psychoanalysis BS. You of all people heard/read about the better cities you prefer to live in, good for you. now do you think the people in those cities hear about the 'cool' things about Houston the same was you did? houstonians helping Spiderman in a sequel maybe? houston doesnt do PR work, how are people far away hear about its coolness
if you worked in NYC you know many departments moved to houston after 9/11. It was Jersey, then DE, then Houston. Housing became too expensive then the recession started. most people moved with a heavy heart but of course we had to pick our heads up and look at the bright side 'Houston can't be that bad.'
It's pretty bad, in the in many aspects. its really sad. in the NE region, its like snowboarding and other nature adventures (and rallying), then back to NYC nightlife. I also entertained a lot of visitors back then. I also do a bit of amateur car racing. and while TX has the weather for year round racing, the events here are 1:15 compared to the NE, thats simply because more 'cool' people are into it or into 'following rules' like playing chess. I'm probably done seeing concerts except if Eddie Vedder comes to Houston. anytime now.
Anyway, the article is not about me but who the heck moved here because its cool? gays, mexicans, nigerians?

oh and btw, people moving to houston generally means the suburbs outside of houston
