Hi! Please read and help me out, moving to the area...

I am moving to the Houston area in a couple months, and looking for the best area for me to live in. I will be working on the west side of houston just past I 10 and BW 8, any ideas? I recently graduated from college and am looking for a cool fun area.

I heard Washington Ave, Uptown/Galleria, Memorial, and the CityCentre(?) are hot spots and the commute would be doable. Also the West U area?

Any help, ideas, or tips would be great!

Thanks!

City Centre will probably be your best bet. No reason to live inside the loop when you work so far outside of it.

Uptown wouldn't be far, especially since you're going the opposite direction for work.

Hands down City Centre...it gets better by the month and you will be 5-10 minutes from work. Many many recent grads live there.

City Center for sure. Tons of bars, restaurants, shopping, hang outs, etc. There is always a good crowd there on weekends. The other places are worth checking out also, but you might as well live as close to work as possible.

Going to work for an oil company?

All those a great places. I would not live in West U if I worked where you'd be working though. CityCtr is part of Memorial.

Definitely CityCentre. You could do Uptown if you wanted without that big of a hassle. Midtown/Kirby while fun, would be a major pain in the ass to get in and out of somedays. West U would be out of the question, other side of the planet theory.

I work out here and most of the young unmarried people live in the Washington ave area. It's about a 20-25 min commute and there's alot more bars than city center which is pretty expensive for new grad. Galleria is sort of in between Washington and city center in distance and cost. For the typical new grad I'd recommend Washington ave or midtown (the other major area new hires live, it adds about 5 min on the commute).

City Center would be ideal for a quick short commute and this would put you between work and the inner loop.
