This seems to be the only choice we have for internet at the moment, does anyone currently know how good their internet service is? I heard they are using fiber optic lines vs copper that Comcast uses. Speed and uptime's are important to me, can anyone who uses them tell me a bit more? Is it DSL or Cable modem that they use?

I just signed up with Consolidated, getting roughly 22Mbps down (supposed to be 20). My bill is less than $20/mo after taxes for 2 years with a deal they had going when I called. No complaints yet.

I don't have phone service or any other service with them...just internet.

Comes with a free wireless router. Seems to be good enough for our needs, but the technician said it's not always a strong enough signal for every room in the house, depending on where you place it. So he suggested getting our own, if we ever had any issues down the road. I've yet to find somewhere in the house that isn't receiving the signal, however.

That is a better deal than what I have with Comcast.

That's it? Wow. I was quoted 45 bucks a month with a 12 month contract. And after that it would be 70 a month. This is for the 10Mbps package. What kind of modem do they provide you with? They told me it would take 5 days to come install everything.

I'll check on the modem and try to remember to get back to you on here.

A friend of mine tried to get the same deal they offered me, but it wasn't available in his neighborhood. Something to do with whether you have fiber optic, etc...

They told me my options were...

3Mbps...month to month...35.45 +tax
6Mbps...month to month...58.45 +tax
10Mbps...month to month...73.45 +tax
20Mbps...month to month...91.45 +tax

3Mbps...1yr contract...19.45 +tax
6Mbps...1yr contract...29.45 +tax
10Mbps...1yr contract...44.45 +tax
20Mbps...2yr contract...11.50 +tax

Sounded like a no-brainer! The tax on the 20Mbps rate is calculated off 91.45 though, so it brings my total to $19-20/month.

The installer was there the week after I called. In the house about 30 minutes, maybe?

Why is there such a huge gap between a contract and monthly plan? Even other companies never have a spread like that. Seems kinda fishy or the numbers are wrong. I'm assuming Comcast doesn't service you area.

Yeah, Comcast wasn't an option for my neighborhood.

They explained the lower rates as their current promotions/offers...that also happened to come with a 1 or 2 yr commitment. I don't think it's a typical contract vs monthly spread.

I have had cable tv service since 1980 & without a doubt, this is the absolute cable service I have ever had. Have to re-boot system 3-5 times a week.....does no good to call....by the time they finally get a tech here it's not screwing up @ the time so thru haven't clue how or what to do to fix it. Also, WORST DVR service ever
