We are planning a trip this summer to Houston to bring the kids to the zoo, Children's museum, and aquarium. What are some other areas recommended that would be awesome for kids 7-9 years old?

We took our 5 yr old and 7 yr old to Space Center Houston this week and they had a blast. Within the museum district in addition to the Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural Science is good as is the Health Museum.

If you want to make it a day trip or two, in Galveston the Moody Gardens aquarium, rainforest, IMAX, paddleboat ride, and white sand private beach are nice for kids that age. Next door is Schliterbahn water park. And the Pleasure Pier out over the gulf will be open in May I understand with lots of activities and rides.

The Kemah Boardwalk is similar to the pier with lots of kids rides and a powerboat ride you can take and lots of restaurants to visit. You could go to Space Center in the morning and Kemah in the late afternoon on one day, but I'm sure the kids would be tired!

I recommend Discovery Green downtown (bring swimsuits) and Natural Science Museum.

My kids like the aquarium but I get an icky feeling whenever we go. Its pricey and over-commercialized. However, the play fountains in the summer are fun and free.

Too old at 7 and 9? Not really. These kids are probably older than that.
