i'm a fan of Ooh-la-la. Red velvet cake and their Strawberry Amaretto cup cakes....of course if i could i'd eat it every day....

There's 2 locations, one off of Park Row near Fry which i've never been to and the other is in Cinco Ranch off of Westheimer Parkway and Commercial (I think thats the intersection). Right next to the Capital One bank....

Agree with tn2010 -- Ooh-la-la has delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cheesecakes. I also like the fact that it's founder/owner is a local gal!

A west Houston bakery is off SH6 just south of Westheimer. Its called bon vivant. The owner worked was dessert and bakery chef at 4 Seasons hotel before opening this shop. His pastery, cakes and danish are to die for.

Memorial Bakery.

oh-la-la is fine, but there are so many of them now. I understand some of the cakes/pies aren't even made on site. There are several oh-la-las around the Houston Metro. One's now even in Town&Country.

Yeah, Oh-lalala just opened their 3rd store in Town Country, although the one on the north side of I-10 in Katy shouldn't really count as that's just a service counter in their kitchen and not a full size store like the other two...

I don't see how having more stores would make 'em less good as suggested by the previous poster...

Also... I do like La Madeleine... Their Napoleon cakes are very nice, cheesecake is very good too, and their fruit tart is awesome! There are several locations in the city... One in Katy by I-10 and 99 and another one on Westheimer by the BW8...

I've sampled quite a few cupcake bakeries around Houston (courtesy of my fiance), and I must say, Katy and the surrounding areas do not have any great cupcake places...yet . I'm not crazy about Ohh La La...has a taste similar to what you get from a grocery store. But, of course, that's just my opinion. Not that it's bad, but it's basically sugar cake with caked on icing.

My top two places for cupcakes, hands down are:

1. Treat Cupcakes
2. Crave Cupcakes

Here's a shot of some from Treat that I gave to my fiance for our anniversary.
