Hi everyone

I am paying attention at some houses in Covington Woods, Sugar Land, which are fit with our standards and budget, but one thing I have to consider, that is the fact that these houses are old, built in the 70 decade.

Any advice and knowledge will be welcom.

RJ

When you decide on a house & reach a price agreement hire an inspector. That the only way to truly know if there any unseen issues.

I highly recommended for you to check with the seller or Realtor on what energy efficient features that particular home has had done recently.

ask for the home electricity bill amount for the hottest month of the year so you can have an idea on your cost.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong anywhere in Sugar Land. It's friggin' Sugar Land!

Even the dumpy north parts are prettier than Missouri City and Mission Bend. Gorgeous city and the Sweetwater Blvd with all the trees reminds me of a scene from a Nancy Meyers movie.

Really, that is considered an "old" house? The "youngest" house Ive ever owned was built in 66 and I loved it. My favorite home we lived in was built in 42.

OP,

Have you looked at homes in the Highlands? The Highlands are much more centrally located. Given a choice between Covington Woods and The Highlands, i think the Highlands, wood be a better choice.

My house is 120 years old, we have lived here 6 years with no problems whatsoever.
I don't consider something built in the 70s to be old since that is when I was born.

The Highlands is more central, but doesn't have the charm of the neighborhoods around Imperial, where Sugar Land actually started. Sugar Land's new development is spreading north now anyway, with Lake Pointe and surrounding creeping northward on Hwy 6, the new baseball stadium, new HEB Sugar Land Market at Hwy 6 & Hwy 90, etc.

Too often on these boards and elsewhere, the residents of the newer neighborhoods seem to want to unfairly poo-poo on anything north of Hwy 90.
