Federal police officers aren't allowed to moonlight because it could possibly be construed as a conflict of interest. For example, if some bars are busted for illegal acts and some bars aren't, and the ones that aren't are the ones that hired moonlighting officers, well, there's something wrong with that. If you moonlight as a security detail for a sports celebrity who is later accused of rape while you were 'protecting' him, and the police drop the charges, there's something wrong with that. It bothers me that local (and state) police are held to a lower standard than the feds.

Cops will never give up those extra jobs. It's relatively easy work for big pay. My favorite is the cops who stand around in some churches, drinking coffee and socializing...laughing all the way to the bank.

im sort of the same way but in a different field. i really enjoy contracted marketing promotions and events. i did it full time for about 6 months but its not always consistent. so i currently have a job in sports and do marketing jobs on the side. these jobs pay more and are easier too which is why some of us choose to do so.

Sure most start off at a low salary but they have a free car and gas. And in most cases they will be making decent money later on.

I wonder what kind of money they make
When I started working for my company (big company) we used to have cops helping people leave the parking at 5pm for about 1/2 hour.
We haven't had that for several years, so I'm guessing that it's not cheap.

The cops directing traffic at the rodeo this year did an awful job. I hope they didn't get paid much for that sloppy job.

I have concerns when they take their authority and sell it to the highest bidder. So, if some business owner wants his patrons to float in/out of their parking lot that sits on a busy road - - the cop apparently has the right to arbitrarily stop you. Securing a gap, okay - - impeding the traffic flow to give preference to the business owner is not.

These guys put their lives on the line every day, I have no beef with them working for some extra pay.
