Hi

Well last time I posted the world was a much 'rosier' place. I was then looking to move myself and my disabled husband (quadriplegic) to New Jersey - how quickly things change!

I have just been diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer and I need to get to MD Anderson Houston for the best chance to fight this.

Circumstances :
Couple no children
Husband wheelchair bound
No pets
Great References from our current private landlord
Will be in receipt of HUD / Section 8 voucher (or not if the rent is manageable $500 - 600 a month)
Will need a one bedroomed apartment
Travel route reasonable for MD Anderson

Any ideas / guidance / advice greatly appreciated

Same here. I can't help with your housing issue, but I will keep your family in my prayers.

I wanted to join the others here in sending you my thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery. Also wanted to say that my father in law was a cancer patient at MD Anderson. He has only the highest praise for the top level of care he received there. He is now totally cancer free, and getting on with his life! I wish you all the best.

I would look somewhere inside the loop, close to the medical center. Holcombe is the street that the medical center is on and it has some apartment complexes on it. Braeswood is another street close by. By the way, my Mom was treated at MD Anderson for breast cancer and the doctors and nurses and volunteers are all top notch.

Here is a link I found from my husband's mymdanderson account. Guide to MD Anderson - Getting Here - Lodging Information - MD Anderson Cancer Center
There is info on lodging and apartments close by.

Good luck! MD Anderson is the best. Hubby has been a patient there since 2005.
