What's the deal with the Houston Chronicle coverage of the Houston Rockets?

For the first time in 4 years the Rockets might be going to the NBA playoffs, they are in 7th place (8 teams from the Conference go through) with only 13 games left in the regular season and the Houston Chronicle doesn't seem to give a ..... about it.

After I saw on ESPN that the Houston Rockets had won, I thought I'd go and see what the Houston Chronicle said about it.
Well, the top story there, 2 hours after the game is
Tell us about your most disgusting experience in a restaurant | The Houston Advocate | a Chron.com blog

Then I look on the left side where they have "Latest news" and the Rockets victory is in 2nd place, because a story about the Texans signing a kicker is in 1st place.

Is that the way the Houston Chronicle has always been?
Seems like they really don't give a .... about the Houston Rockets.

1. Texas is football country. It is a religion.
2. Houston is a front runner town. The Rockets have had a decent year, but both they and the Astros have been poor for awhile.

Chron has turned into a Texans outlet, Aggies outlet, UT outlet along with Astros and Rockets

just not as much interest in the NBA around here as many of us can't see the games plus pro athletes now are different compared to what we grew up with as it seemed those guys were seen more and lived amongst the average fan.

Maybe because the Rockets have been stuck in the 6-8th place to low lottery chance finish for almost a decade. Not much to get excited about.

Part of the problem is no one can watch them with this Comcast Sportsnet debacle.

I'm just annoyed about it.... plus the frustration of not being able to see the games
and if Texas is football country.... let people decide whether or not they want to read it.
Don't hide the story from people.

It's because "The Chron" is a liberal paper, and reporting something like the Rockets promotes masculinity which liberals hate, now if it were some sort of dinner party or something, then it makes front page.

Astros? Yes. Rockets? No. The Rockets have been competitive for years, but this year they finally have a superstar and a bunch of talented young players like Lin, Parsons, DMo, Asik, etc., but no one can watch them on tv.

How does that explain that 1/2 of the year they have football as their top story?

Because that's what the masses are interested in. If the Rockets were on tv for all Houstonians, there would be more to talk about with people. It's a problem on Houston sports radio too.
