Where can we buy those pretty, long, drapes that decorate those humongous windows we see in all these builder model homes? Can anyone please tell me, are they custom made or they are available at some speciality store for purchase?

Most stores just have the shorter lengths. My wife says to go to High Fashion Home, pick out the fabric, and have them made. I bet thats going to be pricey though...

Can you sew?

No, I can't sew.Atleast nowhere near to THAT perfection. I think then, they need to be custom made which is going to be pricey. Thanks mtgmike for the advice.

I saw some people selling them when they are moving on craigslist also - like 210" length. I'm in the process of getting mine done now and it is about $300 per panel (I think they are 22' long).

sounds like you would be the perfect customer for this place... Welcome to MainStreet America® if you see something displayed in one of their model homes, you can order and pay for it straight from them on site....

Thank you Maddie800 and bluelion for the information. I shall try these options.

I always forget about this place. Do they charge an admission just to walk through the model homes? That seems odd, since I'm sure they're getting a cut of what you purchase.

Yep,I think it's 10.00 per person. I would pay it, though. I am hoping to go soon, to see if they have any decorative items worth getting for our new house.

Has anyone here gone? I wonder if things are way overpriced, or if it's possible to find some things that are reasonable on a middle class budget .

LOL.

There is no charge to go in a model home; tell them you're looking for houses, that's it.

We bought our fabric from Interior Fabrics and had the 20ft long drapes made from a shop in sugarland. The hardware for $600 and they guy who came to install charged $350.00. We paid $2000 for the fabric and almost $1800 for the sewing, hardware and installation i.e. almost 4K for a huge 20ft tall living room window

The front page of their website says they charge $15 per person, over the age of 16, children 4 - 15 are $5 each, and under three are free.

What are they charging for then? Granted, I've never been there, but this is what their home page states.

I'm not going to pay $15 to drag around a teenager that would rather be watching grass grow.
