There is so much happening along FM 1463 since we moved into Firethorne a year ago. It seems inevitable, but I will be seriously bummed if/when FM 1463 is widened to four lanes. My home backs up to it so I can expect significantly more car noise at the least, or a smaller back yard at the worst.

Also just found out that there will be a Valero going in at the intersection of S. Firethorne and FM 1463. Right across from the Timewise?!? I didn't really need another gas station in my backyard and was hoping for some nice shops. The big Timewise going in at FM 1463 and the I-10 feeder would have been great for me.

The Cane Island Expressway will be nice, but FM 1463 never seemed that bad to me. Progress marches on though.

I recently moved to CCR and take 1463 to/from I10 daily.
I feel your pain, the amount of progress in the area is incredible.

I wouldnt mind a few mom/pop restaruants in the area.

Default It will be expanded...

I forgot where I saw it, but I recall reading about a 'future plan' for the 1463 and it will not only be widended, but straightened as well and connected to I10 somehow.

That is the The Cane Island Expressway.
Here is a nice article about it: Cane Island project to provide congestion relief, improve mobility - Community Impact Newspaper

Sorry about that, OP, but personally i never would have bought a home backed up to a main rd like that.
1463 SERIOUSLY needs to be widened. There is just too much being developed on it. I'm down in CCR and can't wait.

Yeah....to be honest you should have never bought a home backed up to a major road. I hope you at least got a pretty good discount on it. My first home I had backed up to a road, but had trees in between my fence and the road, and you didn't really see the cars, but could hear them at times. When I went to sell the house, several people wanted to buy it, except for that road. I learned....we live not far from you in Cinco Southwest, and I made sure to really be picky as to where we bought. In fact we looked at homes in Firethorne, and some of the lots they showed us backed up to 1463 and I told the wife..no way!

Default It used to be quiet...

I remember not that long ago how quiet it was on 1463. I used to take the Westpark Tollroad from 59 and stayed on 1093 until it came to 1463 on into Katy proper just for the leisure drive it used to be; it took the edge off the stress from the office when all you saw were empty fields and cows. It also happened to be during the widening of I10.

But boy, it has changed, and so much has been built up, and it is now congested. It sort of reminds me of how HWY 6 and 59 was a couple of decades, or more ago.... very quiet. Now look at it.

We were aware of the road when we bought it, and I was skeptical of the developers assurances that the road wouldn't be widened. In fact it was our biggest hang-up with the house, but we used it to drive the price down. We did get a good deal and the house is not like others we have seen, in fact it is one of a kind by the builder.

What we weren't aware of at the time were the plans for the Cane Island parkway. Had we known about that at the time it would have weighed more heavily on our decision.

Most of the noise is from construction traffic, which makes up a large percentage of the total traffic. The newest section of Firethorne is building out like crazy.

No offense, but come on. You built where you built and didn't see the writing on the wall?
