Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Houston in the next month.
Recently I have been researching the real estate market there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I will be working in downtown and prefer no more than a 40 minute commute. ( What id traffic like there)
What are your opinions on an up and coming neighborhood ? Children aren't in the picture so schools don't necessarily matter, but I also don't want to be in area full or Violent crime, robberies, etc.

Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm stoked for this move

Budget will be needed to help, as well as what type of area are you looking for i.e. family-friendly neighborhoods, areas for under-30 types, senior citizen retirement communities, etc.

Traffic is bad. Try to live close to work. Use www.har.com to search for places, everytthing is there and its most current.

I'm looking to spend no more than 200k. That is my absolute max.

You won't have hardly any issues in the morning. After work will be a completely different story.

There's plenty of quality homes available for $200K in Houston. It just won't be a large home or in a highly rated school district.

I'm not really tied to the city, nor a large home. I would be happy with anything in the realm of 1500 sq.
Also, if it means being in a safe neighborhood at the 200k dollar amount; I don't mind being outside of the 610 loop and driving in.

Personally I would rent an apartment for a year until you familiarize yourself with the city. From there, you can learn about traffic conditions, what type of neighborhoods interest you and so on. Without kids, being in a mobile situation would be easier.
