My inlaws live with me and are 60 and 69. Both are retired so don't have much to do during the day. Thy recently moved over here from Louisiana so they don't have any friends yet either. Anything for them to do around Katy? Particularly the west side.

Thanks

You could give Meetup.com a try. Search by Interest and Location. My wife has has really good luck with meeting other Stay at Home Mothers on there.

There's a farmers market every Saturday morning at La Centerra which is pretty nice. On Saturday afternoons from 12-3, No Label Brewery has an open beer tasting for 5$. You can bring food, chairs, tents and relax near the old rice mills...is pretty nice and relaxing. Very friendly atmosphere.

Also, the Palladium just opened up off Grand Parkway that is a multiplex theater, with bowling, a full bar on the 2nd floor and a massive selection of food and bakery items...it's pretty impressive.

Here's a couple lists of ongoing monthly events in Katy:

I know many retirees who have no problem finding things to do, either at home or elsewhere. Everyone ages at a different rate and you didn't give much information about your in-laws, but 60 and 69 isn't considered old these days!

Does their health allow them to be fairly active?
Do they drive?
Did they have hobbies or areas of particular interest (collecting, creative projects, etc.) when they were younger?
Are they computer literate and do they have access to one?

My mom moved here recently as well (she's 70 and active) and she got involved with the Seniors group at church. They do volunteer work at the church on Friday mornings and sometimes go to lunch after that. At least once a month they have an "outing" to places like the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory, Rosenberg Train Museum, etc. She's really having fun.
