3000 sq ft house, about 15 years old. Around $65 in the winter and up to $160 in the summer. Two units and we keep it at 74.

I was paying around $150 a month in the summer and about $100 in the winter when using heat (all electric). Second floor, built in 96, about 800sqft.

We just got our bill today. Our home is brand new, 4200 sq feet, two stories, two a/c units. Our bill was $189. I am a SAHM, so I am home a lot during the week. I keep the a/c around 75 or so.

Funny thing is that our last home (2400 sq ft, 2 stories, built in 2004) had higher electricity bills than our new home.

The A/C units are a lot more efficient today and your old home might not have had double paned windows (I can't remember the year they became part of the code). The combination of those two can make quite a difference.

The rates seem higher than last year and our contract is up end of June. I was thinking of doing Reliants Clear Flex plan at 7.9c and see how it goes as there's no charge to cancel, anyone out there do a variable plan with success?

I figured that; I just couldn't believe how much of a difference in comparing the bills. I'll take it though!

Low-E windows make a huge difference too. All my windows are Low-E windows except the glass in the doors. There is a very obvious temperature difference between the window and the glass in the door next to it when the sun shines on that side of the house.
