I have been looking at homes in the heights area which doesn't have a whole lot of inventory and prices seem to be increasing at an amazing pace. I drove around the area on the other side of N. Main called Brooke Smith. Seems like the style of the neighborhood is like the rest of the heights but a lot of the homes look like they are somewhat run down although there does seems to be quite a bit of remodeling going on. Since I don't really know much about it was wondering if anyone lives in the neighborhood or is familiar with it who can offer some insight (envirnonment, neighbors, crime, investment potential, etc.).

I know one person that has a house there and the other that leased on there. I used to also date a girl that lived there. It is a shady area. Investment wise it is smart. The area will turn over. You will just have to ride it out. It will never be as nice of an area as prime parts of the Heights, but it is still a cheap area. I think you missed the biggest push on appreciation. I would talk to a realtor. They will be more up on it. It is close to Alice's Tall Texan!

I think he is talking south of Cavalcade and east of N Main.

Close to Teo as well.

Parts of it are shady but that's the Heights (and much of Houston in general).
Probably a good place for an investment.

There's a mention of it in this article: 25 Hottest Neighborhoods (Page 5) | Houstonia Magazine

It's a pretty safe bet that the area is already gentrifying and now would be a good time to get in.

Thanks for the comments so far.. Yes.. I was talking about the area south of Calvacade, east of Airline and north of N. Main. It is close to Teotihaucan, Spanish Flower, Frida's etc.. I noticed there's a new spot D&T Drive Inn in the neighborhood too so thought that had to be a positive sign at least..

D&T Drive is a good spot. I don't think you can co wrong. It's one of the last areas in the process of being revitalized around the Heights.
