I will be moving from a rental into my new house soon..I was wondering who i would contact to hook up the washer and dryer etc?
I dont think i am capable of handling that on my own.
Is there a service I can call ?

if you pay someone they will probably get you for $300

it's not complicated, but if you are uncomfortable definately get someone to do it

is the dryer electric or gas?

If you are having someone help you move the appliances, maybe they will do it for you. Since they are both electric, it is as simple as attaching two hoses to a faucet (make sure the washers in the hoses are OK), plugging in a power cord, and putting the drain hose into the drain opening for the washer. Just make sure the drain and supply hoses are tight, but not too tight. The dryer requires a specific plug so it might need to be changed. Newer houses have 4 prongs on the electric dryer plug while older homes have three prongs. The dryer vent might be the hardest part to hook up if you have the correct plug already on the dryer. It should only take 15-30 min at the most if you have the right parts already.

I would think a handyman could install both for just a general service call, probably less than $100. Heck, depending on where you are moving, I might consider doing it for you.

Almost every move we have made, and I stopped counting at 25, the movers hooked up the washer and dryer.

If there were a lot of appliances, washer, dryer stove, TV's, etc. the moving company hired an appliance guy to come in and do it and just billed our company along with the move.

I would be more than willing to walk you through it over the phone or even via video chat, I assure you if you can unlock the front door of this new house you can hook up an electric washer and dryer.

If I were you I would at least give it a try before spending a penny on it, I bet you can handle it.

I just disconnected the dryer to get the lint out of the vent. I can also connect the washer.

I would be nervous about a gas dryer. Once when the mover hired an appliance company to connect everything, the first time I turned in the stove, it blew up. Gotta watch those gas connections.
