Can someone tell me how bad the drive is from the Medical District to Baytown? My son will
be alternating between hospitals and needs to know how much time this will take.
He will be at the Houston hospital (Methodist) about 3 days a week and the Baytown Hospital the other
two days for his Medical school rotations. I would also appreciate ideas/recommendations
on where he should try to live.
Thanks again for the help

30-35 minutes or thereabouts.
Not really any good places to live halfway in between.
Deer Park is the only place I can think of that is generally in between the two, but that is not exactly a haven for young, single adults if that is a consideration.

I would recommend he lives closer to the Med Center. Especially since he'll be working 3 days there and only 2 in Baytown. As houstonlibrarian pointed out, there really aren't too many great places to live in-between. I mean, yes there are a lot of places, and perhaps a few nice pockets, but overall the East side of Houston is definitely not the "nice" side (and that includes suburbs). Baytown is about as far East as it gets in Greater Houston. There are some really great neighborhoods near the Med Center, as long as you stay West of 288 and North of 610. The good news is that traffic moves a lot more quickly on the East side, so yes... probably around a half-hour in either direction.

Is he looking for a house or an apartment? Houses can get a little pricey in that area, but there are many nice apartments near the Med Center as well.

If he's in med school he may not have much spare time. Maybe live in Baytown as it will be much cheaper...but the QOL will be lower than the med center (where you will find more like minded types). If it were me Id be by med center, but just tossing out an option.
