Hi, I will be living in Houston this summer and working in the western part of downtown. I'm looking for a place to stay between early June and mid August in the Midtown area or similar, since I will be working very long hours and can be no more than a 15 min drive (with moderate/heavy traffic) from the office. Anyone have suggestions for where to look? Not much on craigslist, I've been looking through sublets and short term leases. Max budget $1000/month. Thanks!

Also, as a Minnesota native, this will be my first extended stay in Houston (or Texas) and it happens to be during the most blazing hot time of the year...yikes...

Most people doing summer co-ops here sign a one year lease and break it. It is cheaper than signing a short lease. You need to find some roommates to bring down the cost. It is really common for young kids to do it.

Midtown starts at 1300 a month for a one year lease. A summer lease will be several hundred more a month if there are even any available.

Yeah I was planning on finding some roommates, 1000 each not 1000 for the entire place. So you think its cheaper to pay the penalty for breaking a 1 year lease than for just paying more over 3 months?
