Life has most likely been a real b---- to him. I try to think about that before passing judgment. We tend to forget, but there are people in this world that have dealt with far more adversity than the average individual.

It's a "b----" to us all. Some of us just handle it better than others. This guy handles it poorly.

What I basically did was give him some friendly advice on how to get money out of people. You don't do it by creating a scene like that.

I think some of you guys get off on messing with the homeless. Yanking dollars away from them, lecturing them and even telling them to get the hell off a table cus its for paying customers? Just sounds insufferable.

I've probably forgotten more adversity than either of you two have ever faced. Been on my ass or close to it several times, including just a few months ago when I spent a few nights sleeping in the truck after my original living arrangement up here in Ohio fell through. I didn't improve my situation by invading other people's personal space and berating them for not giving me a handout.

The guy had it coming to him. The people who are handed a dollar and go "is that all you got?" have it coming to them.

If I "got off to messing with the homeless" I'd have stayed in Houston. Haven't had an experience with an aggressive panhandler since I left.

You darned right I took my money back. How are you going to basically beg for handouts and then cop an attitude when you don't get what you want? There's a saying: "Beggars can't be choosy."

Well it's clear that my point flew way over your head. Carry on.

I suggest it's the other way around. You're incapable of putting anything over my head.

While your heart bleeds for Houston's aggressive, ingrate beggars, I'm off to work.

Default Conduct a social experiment and report back...

If you have ever spent considerable amount of time downtown, walking around, not driving, not for one hour, all day, you know what the situation is. I used to ride into downtown from Memorial park every weekend when I was single. I'd meet my buddies, we'd drink beer, just cruise around Market Square, the bayous, it was always empty of traffic, and people, except we met these guys begging for money.

Some are decent about it, as JFRE81 noted, others have mental problems, others spit at you because they are pissed. Most curse. Spend time in downtown, I mean all daylight hours, ride the Metro rail a few times, and you will be hit up by all kinds, and you will decide for yourself if it is out of control in Houston.
