We just moved to Houston 3 months ago, enrolled my (autistic) 5 yr old in CF-ISD elementary school. We are now considering purchasing/building a home (in one of the newer subdivisions) and I would be grateful for any input on which would be the best school district (for autism related education and services) in the greater Houston area. That will help us focus our attention to homes in those areas.

From some other posts we seem to gather that Katy and Cy-Fair are generally considered good. But a sales agent told us that if you buy in Katy you should buy S of I-10, as it is better than N of I-10; for schools and the neighborhood. Is that true? And another told us that Fort Bend ISD is comparable to Katy. So now I am confused!

We would also appreciate specifics about any areas as well as schools (good / not desirable / etc) whether elementary, middle or high school.

Thanks in advance!

This thread discusses the topic in length. If you can afford Spring Branch ISD and are willing to deal with an older home or remodel one,I would suggest it. http://www.city-data.com/forum/houst...-district.html

PS- Spring Branch ISD is the district just east of Katy ISD, along the I-10 corridor. Zips codes are 77024 and 77079. 77079 being the more affordable.

Thanks...that info was useful.
Will look into homes in Spring Branch ISD. No energy to remodel though...need to buy/build one that works as is. Hope there are some new homes being built there.
