and the media does this to generate more viewers, simple. Sometimes they are right but mostly they overreact.

I wonder how many people, having been burned by the hype Over TS Bill, will not respond to the next warning.

I have been watching some of the news reports and even they looked bored with this storm. It has not even hit Houston like they thought it would.

I saw Al Roker on the Today Show reporting from Eleanor Tinsley park. Even across the country in Seattle there is plenty of storm coverage from Houston.

DH is working in his office downtown (Houston) today. He did make sure all the pets were inside at home before leaving, at least.

I am supposed to fly out of Hobby tomorrow. But SW canceled the flight due to weather. I'm surprised, honestly! Trying for Thursday departure

As always the media overhypes stuff to keep people tuned into their station.

I cant believe schools were closed for some rain.

Someone said next time people can be more prepared, This can have the opposite effect. Its the boy who cried wolf syndrome.

When something dangerous does come through people wont leave because the news cried wolf on a weak rain system

All a bunch of nothing, just like I figured.
They practically shut down the city over a little rain.
The "coverage" on the local news has been downright pathetic, if not comical.
Even those in the eye of the storm are not seeing much.

Tropical storms and hurricanes approaching the Texas Gulf Coast can do unpredictable things and should not be taken lightly. No two are alike. The wind strength and rainfall totals after landfall are educated guesses based on available data. There are a lot of newcomers to this part of Texas who did not experience Tropical Storm Allison, Hurricane Ike or any of the previous damaging storms; they're the ones who will likely disregard future warnings and suffer the consequences.

Dan Rather became famous because he covered live on bad, wet weather on the Texas coastline. Now every unknown newsperson in America runs to stand in water for their report, while being melodramatic.
